5 Rings Gets My Vote

Countdown to the London 2012 Olympics has officially started.  People can now register for tickets.

However, the debate surrounding the Olympics today is split into two camps. Those who think it is great and those who think it is for the middle-classes and cannot be bothered with it.

My advice to everyone, whether you are for or against the Olympics, is that this is a great opportunity in your lifetime to be part of hosting a world sports event. Be proud to be British and get behind the Olympics. It’s cost us all a lot of money (that’s another story) so let’s just enjoy it.

As a mother, I want to be able to take my children and speak of our experiences at this event to our grandchildren. Even if we don’t get tickets, we can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy something fun happening in London.

Thumbs up from me for getting behind the Olympics.

  1. Hi Bunty,

Maybe everyone will get more excited nearer the time. I’m not a sporty person at all but even I will join in to support the games, wave a flag and all that jazz. I think countdowns are a bit pointless and underwhelming, who wants to count down 500 days?

  2. Hi All, I am not a super sporty person, but the Olympics is really something special, I have volunteered for the event and I am pleased to say that I have an interview with the selection committee – first stage – and I am really excited about it! To think that I will be able to take part in something that will be a talking point for generations to come around the world knocks me for six! How often do we get something like this to be a part of?
