The Guardian reported today that the BBC World Service is to receive US State Department funding in order to invest in technology to overcome TV and internet state censorship in countries like Iran and China.
I find this quite interesting as there was a story last week in the same newspaper detailing how companies were being awarded contracts by the US government to set up fake accounts on social networking sites to generate pro-US propaganda. Is their interest in the BBC World Service part of this plan?
