Residents of Clarence Street, Southall in London, celebrated the Royal wedding in Indian style in honour of where Kate Middleton’s grandparents grew up.
With a dhol procession, Indian dancing and a great Indian feast, this street welcomed the local community to join in the festivities. There was even a mock Indian wedding.
As a fellow Indian, I was delighted to see that a South Asian community participated in this very patriotic and British celebration. It revives my confidence that South Asian’s in Britain do not feel totally alienated from British culture and this Royal Wedding enabled people from all races to come together.
