The Guardian reported a new craze of divorce parties taking place in the States to help women get rid of their possessions, make some cash and give to charity – turning a negative into a positive and so on. It’s sort of the theme that runs through a movie I watched over the weekend, First Wives Club.
This movie is on constant repeat on Sky and Freeview but it’s such a gem of a movie I love it every time (such as last Sunday). It’s a hilarious movie starring Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler and is about the revenge these middle-aged women take on their husbands for leaving them, in some cases for much younger women.
It’s not the man hating movie it sounds like, their acting is wonderful and the dialogue is sharp and full of wit. It’s a movie from the 90s – very amusing seeing the avant garde interior designs and great seeing a young SJP/Carrie Bradshaw in the making. Goldie Hawn is so beautiful in the movie it is a pleasure watching her, I hope that I age the same way.
You can buy the dvd for £1 on Amazon it is so old!
