After spending the weekend eating chocolate eggs I can now spend the rest of my week smearing myself in chocolate with a whole new range of beauty treatments…..
Cocoa is packed with antioxidants, calcium, iron and magnesium. It is known to be a skin superfood and many spas across the country are introducing a range of calorie free indulgence from facials to wraps and scrubs.
I have just tried a chocolate facial which is surprisingly amazing. Mix 1 tbsp of cocoa powder with enough double cream to make a smooth paste then add 1 tsp of honey. Apply to cleansed skin and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse of with warm water leaving you skin soft and silky. Edible!
If you fancy making your own scrub you can mix 50g of cocoa with 2 tbsp of brown sugar and a few drops of vanilla essence. Drizzle in olive oil and stir to form a paste. Use on rough knees, elbows and upper arms. You can store it the fridge for daily use. I hear this is a delightful exfoliant.
If you don’t fancy make your own facials and scrubs, using plain old fashioned cocoa butter is a great moisturiser especially for softening dead skin cells.
