Proud To Be British

Were you one of the lucky 10,000 people to win lunch at Buckingham Palace and seats at the Jubilee concert? I wasn’t either and watched the fantastic show on televsion, eating my Heston Blumenthal inspired quiche rather than the scrumptious hamper!!!

What a fabulous concert it was…..

The stage, a crown around Eros with the Palace as a backdrop. I was totally awestruck. Where else in the world would you see such an elaborate party outside a stately home?

Robbie Williams started the party off in style with “Let Me Entertain you”. Will I Am entertained us all by shouting “Happy Birthday Your Royal Highness” – I don’t think he was told that Queen is referred to as Her Majesty. Tom Jones got Princess Anne singing along to Delilah. Kylie got every man in the audience beckoning rain to cool them down. The star studded performances were truly brilliant. Madness, stole the show for me.

The visual lightshow blew our minds as they “Our House”. And for one night, we could all pretend it was our front yard. If that wasn’t enough, the firework display following a superb set from Sir Paul McCartney made the Chinese Olympic ceremony look mediocre.

Even Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, seemed quite choked at the patriotism displayed by the nation. In Price Charles’s words, it did make one “proud to be British”.
