Shellac

If you’ve tried it, you know what I am talking about. If you haven’t read on.

Shellac nail polish is a dream. You can work all day, look after the kids, cook dinner, wash the dishes and still have perfectly manicured and polished nails. I love it.

The Asian nail bars are offering the service for around £22. Ok, it’s dearer that a normal manicure, but well worth it. Mine is 7 days old as still perfect. It takes literally no time to dry, doesn’t chip and apparently strengthens your natural nail. We’ll see about that in due course.

Colours are quite basic. I was happy with a standard red, but I am sure within a year, more colours will appear in the Shellac range.

  1. I’ve heard of it, but haven’t tried it. I like to change my nails very often so it’s not for me!

  2. I tried it and loved it. I had it on for three weeks and the reason I took it off in the end was because my own nail had grown a lot so you could see where the polish finished.

    I had some concerns though:
    1. Something that lasts so well on you nails cannot be good for them. The polish was absolutely perfect after three weeks, so that must mean that my own nails were getting no oxygen or moisture.
    2. Many of the brands of shellac nail polish have a high content of Fomaldehyde, which is a poison and is used to embalm dead bodies. I feel weird putting this on my nails!
    3. Taking it off was a nightmare. You have to use nail polish with acetone in it, which is absolutely awful for nails.

  3. Acetone didn’t even take it off. I had to peel it off.
Loved the look but not the after effects!
God, your concerns Mysterious Pinkie are mine too.

  4. I want to to thank you for this good read!! I absolutely enjoyed
every bit of it. I have got you bookmarked to look at new stuff you post…

  5. Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins
to assist with SEO? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m
not seeing very good gains. If you know of any please share.
    Appreciate it!
