Just in case you get a little tired of the Olympics over the summer, take yourself down to the V&A for sheer glamour in their current exhibition “Ballgowns; British Glamour Since 1950”.
Oh my!!! 60 British designs worn by royalty, celebrities and simply the social elite are celebrated in the newly renovated fashion gallery of the museum. I wish I could select a favourite but was spoilt for choice….

Sarah Burton for McQueen: Feather Dress

Erdem’s Silk Satin Beaded Gown

Giles Deacon

Gareth Pugh’s Leather Dress
The exhibition was spectacular for design lovers and the creme de la creme for me was to see an old favourite by Catherine Walker, “Elvis Dress” as worn by Princess Diana in 1989 at the British Fashion Awards.

Catherine Walker, Elvis Dress
I can’t imagine a nicer way to spend a couple of hours and totally recommend this exhibition which is on until 6th January 2013.
