Asian Art in London Week

From 1 to 12 November 2012 London galleries and museums will be hosting antiques and fine art from Asia including India, China, Japan and the Himalayas.  The British Museum is hosting a lecture on the drawings of FN Souza and Picasso widely regarded as founding members of the modern art movement in Europe and India respectively.

The image above is a miniature by Olivia Fraser, an artist that follows the Rajasthani school of miniature painting.  The artist did an apprenticeship with Ustad Ajay Sharma in Jaipur where she learned how to make her own pigment and even paper.  Olivia Fraser: Miniatures is on at the Grosvenor Gallery until 16 November.

Contemporary art from Pakistan will be shown at the wonderful Asia House.  For further information check out the Asian Art in London website.
