Charming and dapper young design duo, Shantanu & Nikhil presented their couture collection titled ‘To Die For’ aiming to capture the decadent renaissance in its most contemporary form with an emphasis on the different shades of gold. The sheer strength and buying power in the Indian bridal market renders it irresistible, however, I found this collection was aimed more at the guests or sisters of the wedding party rather than the bride. Whilst undoubtedly a nice collection, for me, the styling and accessories didn’t pack the punch of their prêt line which I feel is their strength.
How amazing would this gold jacket be with jeans or leather skinnies?
Mustard, ochre, champagne… there wasn’t a shade of gold that Shantanu & Nikhil didn’t explore often paired with scarlet and black for added impact. I’m surprised this design duo doesn’t dress more Bollywood celebrities for the red carpet as the figure hugging ethnic but minimal designs would be perfect. The Chantilly Lace dress at the finale was particularly stunning:
