I started reading Nancy Mitford and took an interest in her after hearing about her on the BBC Radio 4 Great Lives programme. She sounded so wonderfully witty, sharp and unsentimental that I decided to buy a few of her books.
The Pursuit of Love is a as much as finding love as it is about celebrating the love that an extended family can bring. If you are lucky enough to enjoy an extended family full of crazy but much loved cousins, aunts, scary uncles and so on you will love reading about the family in this book. Woven into the major story is the author’s subtle reflections on women and their changing needs in order to survive in a changing world.
This is a book full of vivacious female characters whether major or minor to the plot and I thoroughly recommend it.
