Rajesh Pratap Singh @ WIFWSS15
Day 3 at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week featured a couple of unmissable designers, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ashish N Soni. These brands consistently produce collections that would seamlessly fit in to a woman’s wardrobe anywhere in the world being both sophisticated, exceedingly wearable whilst maintaining traces of their Indian DNA.

Rajesh Pratap Singh’s collection for SS15 was dedicated to denim and natural indigo dyeing hence the title Blue Blood (incidentally he is Indian royalty so he should know about it). A textile innovator, Rajesh’s collection included stainless steel blended denim in addition to indigo dyed linen and ikat weaves.

Natural indigo dyeing was first started in India and subsequently replaced by chemical versions. Denim purists are now determined to bring the craft back into the fore. The collection included one of my favourite colour pairings: indigo denim and scarlet, mama mia!

Ashish N Soni’s collection was inspired by plumage. The exotic bird references were very subtle, however, on subdued bespoke prints and in gorgeous hair accessories for the models paired with glittering diamond earrings by Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers.

Laser cut feather motifs were appliquéd on to styles to create depth and movement, indeed this look was one of my favourites. Other favourites include the impeccable trench coats, watch out Burberry!

The menswear is gorgeous at Ashish N Soni, this brand manages to make it look different in a good way with a dash of cosmopolitan air and subtle flair. Bravo for another excellent collection.

Masaba Gupta @ WIFWSS15 for Fiama Di Wills
So what are shower jewels? A new range of shower gels by Fiama Di Wills (fashion week’s main sponsor) designed by Masaba Gupta who is on an upward trajectory to potentially monopolise Indian design…almost! Known for her prints, the designer helped to design a range of shower gels infused with real gemstone dust (does it scratch?).

We were allowed to forget about the gels while the designer showed her collection without a shower or wet-look sari in sight. The set and music had the dial firmly set on 1970s disco whilst the collection was more contemporary, inspired by the feistiness of fireworks and delicate florals. I loved the prints and colour palette in the second segment and the leather bib styling: it wouldn’t work in real life but on the catwalk it made a cool 70s pop statement.
