Couturier Manish Malhotra needs no introduction. Whilst Manish was inspired by the princely states and regalia of the 1930s, contemporary royalty in the form of Shah Rukh Khan and Bollywood princess Deepika Padukone walked the ramp for the designer. The beautifully coiffured hair underlined the inspiration with silhouettes and embroidery echoing the splendour of Indian – European architecture. French shoe designer Christian Louboutin
Charles Saatchi: The Hole Gets Deeper
My favourite TV chef Nigella Lawson has remained silent in the four weeks since those now infamous paparazzi photos of her husband Charles Saatchi ‘grasping’ her neck, pinching her nose and covering her mouth. Charles Saatchi has now announced through a Sunday newspaper that he is filing for divorce as Nigella has not come out to publicly defend his actions.
It is rather odd that we’ve been given such a deeply personal glimpse
Vanity Becomes Her
Beyonce began her world tour with a flurry of images being published of her stage costumes. Her press team have now declared a ban on media photography as they will be provided with official photography ensuring Beyonce looks her best. Apparently this is due to unflattering photos of her being published earlier in the year.
It does make me wonder where the power lies in a celebrity’s relationship with the media.
Are You A Belieber?
Justin Bieber reportedly wrote that he “hoped that Anne Frank would have been a belieber” on his recent visit to the Anne Frank Museum.
Great to know that the Canadian moron fully appreciates what the second World War was all about then! Nice one mate! He also thinks that Anne Frank was a “great girl”. Marvellous! Are we to assume the dipstick can actually READ and has read her diary?
Colours Explode at Oscars
Where was the sea of nude, white and gold dresses? Whilst dresses in these shades inevitably came down the red carpet the number was significantly diminished. Instead a rainbow of colors were worn by the Hollywood beauties and it was such a welcome change.
Jennifer Aniston above in Versace and Olivia Munn in Marchesa (literally fresh off the catwalk from last week).
The Perfect Bride
Ballgown Heaven
Just in case you get a little tired of the Olympics over the summer, take yourself down to the V&A for sheer glamour in their current exhibition “Ballgowns; British Glamour Since 1950”.
Oh my!!! 60 British designs worn by royalty, celebrities and simply the social elite are celebrated in the newly renovated fashion gallery of the museum. I wish I could select a favourite but was spoilt for choice….
Celebrity Wife
Glitz and Glamour
A delayed post about the Golden Globes fashion hits and misses, apologies, things happen!
Firstly let me say, in India last night it was the Screen Awards which I guess is the Indian version of the Globes but I’m not going to review the fashion because I can’t pretend to care about the celebrities or the fashion. A sari is a beautiful garment, end of. No one wore anything else.
So back to the Globes, please do get your comments off your chest too!
Starting with a Brit Chick – well, at least it’s not nude. I love nude but it’s a bit saturated at award ceremonies. The Telegraph commented on Kate’s chav/scouse eyebrows. A bit harsh!
Bleached Beyonce
I’m no longer a fan of Beyonce as I find her music quite dated and am bored of her wailing but I do acknowledge her success, popularity and with it her influence. I don’t know if it is her decision or whether she is being pushed into becoming a caucasian white woman by her record company but I find her new album cover quite sad:
If this did not actually have Beyonce’s name on it I would never have thought it was her.
