Etch A Sketch

Does everyone remember the Etch A Sketch? What a fabulous toy. My children have one and it goes everywhere. I was so pleased to see the Spanish basketball coach using one to convey strategy and tactics.

In the modern days of electronic tablets, the most common of which, the IPad, this was somewhat surprising. He was able to quickly draw and erase his messages to each of the players, making it all look as simple as child’s play.

The Spanish team beat Team GB whose coach decided to take them to the classroom by using a whiteboard. Not quite as cool.

Dangerous Dogs

With the tragic mauling of a 6 years old girl over the weekend, dangerous dogs are back on the agenda. The poor girl had half her ear bitten off and suffered severe bite wounds to her head and body. She will need continuous surgery for the foreseeable future, never mind the mental scarring from such an attack. The father of the child spoke of the incident as needless and described the dog owner as a spectator to the onslaught.

Pushy Parents

“I don’t know what is wrong with her. She is so clingy when I am around and will not just go and enjoy the class. I try to do so much for her to give her the best. She goes to nursery full time from 8am to 5.30pm and on the weekends, she does ballet, piano lessons, Gujarati school and swimming” Mum of a three year old.
