Royal Ascot made a massive statement about its stature and class this week with its imposition of a strict dress code patrolled by their own fashion police name tagged as “Dress Code Assistants”.

Modesty and dignity have become a priority to an occasion once associated with Gentry. Is it old money against new money? Well if it is, the old money won this race hands down.

Oxbridge Underdog

UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, opened a can of worms on higher education when commenting on the entrance figures of ethnic minority students to Oxford or Cambridge. Although his statistics were slightly incorrect, the message was heard. Oxbridge is for the privileged and elite. There is no place there for state school students or ethnic minorities. They just don’t fit do they?

Indian Timing

I was over an hour late the other day to meet a friend for her graduation ceremony and I was in all angry and flustered. Punctuality is not something that is associated with Indians. For someone who is punctual, this drives me insane. I hate being late and get really annoyed when I am made to be late. I hate being associated with “Indian Timing”.
