The World Goes Pop!

The World Goes Pop Tate Modern

Proving that pop art is more than Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, The World Goes Pop at the Tate Modern is an exhibition that tracks pop art through the ages and the world. We couldn’t recommend it enough. Rarely has such an amazing

Disobedient Objects

disobedient objects

One thing I have in common with my 2 year old nephew is a need to be constantly entertained. One thing I should learn from him is that I can do this by myself.

London is awash with free and cheap “things to do” and I am guilty of losing sight of this.

On a boring Sunday, a day I have recently resigned to a tube-free day, I broke that habit and headed to the V&A Museum in South Kensington.

MF Husain, A Great Master at The V & A

MF Husain ganesha

Maqbool Fida Husain, known as M.F. Husain (1915-2011), was one of India’s most eminent and prolific artists.  Often described as India’s Picasso, MF Husain is one of my favourite Indian artists.  He is one of a group of Indian artists known as the Great Masters and they are indeed great, possessing a quality and perspective yet unmatched by generations of painters since.

vogue cover

Yesterday I had the pleasure of perusing the Condé Nast: Coming Into Fashion photography exhibition at the Edinburgh City Art Centre.  Displaying a century of fashion photography from the rich archive of some of the world’s best loved fashion magazines, it was an exhibition for lovers of beauty.

Beauty in a general sense of the meaning, not just because the models are beautiful.

Sotheby’s London will hold an auction of modern and contemporary Indian art on June 11th and an exhibition of the available art will open from the 6th of June.

I simply love the works by the Great Masters of Indian art.  Dead and dying, these rare icons of Indian art are inimitable.  I wasn’t exposed to them growing up and learned about them through my frequent trips to India.

The V Word

Valentino-Garavan

I know I already covered the Valentino exhibition, however, I went to see it last week and had to report back!  Did I have 2-3 hours spare in my last day in London before flying to Delhi? Of course not, but I still went to the Valentino exhibition regardless and it was just excellent.

Upon entry I was a little worried

The Mughals at the British Library

mughal-carousel-allahvardi

Have you heard that the British Library is showcasing its Mughal dynasty masterpieces?  The exhibition is only £10 and is open until April 2013 so there is plenty time to catch one of the most exclusive exhibitions of Mughal art for a very long time.

The British amassed an incredible vast treasure trove of artefacts during the Empire and these go on drip feed display.  A tiny part of me wonders whether it ought to be returned
