Apparently there is a science to selecting a watermelon but I think it’s quack. Science: Tap it and it should sound hollow if it’s ripe. Nonsense. Try listening to a watermelon when there is heavy traffic honking behind you.

Two-Day Diet

New research has found that cutting carbs for two days a week is more effective in helping weight loss than trying to diet constantly. Apparently you can eat carbs the other days as normal.

This is the two-day diet the women in the research followed:

Breakfast: Fruit tea and a banana, or mug of milky coffee.

Peas in a Pod

Shivering through the Scottish Summer, I turn to comfort food to warm me up.  I’ve been making delicious frittatas since living with Spanish friends at uni and this recipe is perfect as not only does it feel healthy it is also light and tastes great hot and cold (although I prefer it hot).

What you need:

Olive oil

Butter

4 spring onions cut into small pieces

Fruit In A Pill

A new supplement was launched in the UK today called Juice Plus+ promising to give us the same vitamins as our recommended five a day fruit and veg.  Thing is, a while back the government said it just made the five a day portion up as it was catchy and a number that was easy to remember.
