Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis starting the selfie craze in Thelma and Louise
What does it mean to be a celebrity feminist and do they help or hinder the cause? Can they even call themselves so?
In an article in The Guardian, a journalist forensically analyses the contribution of so-called Hollywood Feministas (my word) and whether they failed. Feminists such as Emma Watson are berated

My ONLY regret from last year was that on the 18th of December 2015, instead of joining the entire Western hemisphere at the cinema for the movie release of the decade, I was freezing my tits off in Delhi.
Oh, does Delhi get cold in Winter? Yes indeed. And there is no central heating or double glazing!!
My disloyal family went to the cinema without me ‘oh but we will watch it for the second time with you’ thanks guys! One of my dear cousins even spoiled it for me by revealing a key part of the story.

A few weeks ago I had realised that there were no Hollywood in Bollywood films on the horizon. Could it be? Could the Slumdog Millionaire franchise actually fail to produce another saccharine feel-good Hollywood blockbuster? Are there no more Americans that need to travel to India and “find him/herself” and return a changed human being for the greater good?
And then just like buses, three films come at once. One I’ve forgotten about already. I couldn’t face the Helen Mirren cooking one. But the baseball one seemed palatable, not least because the hunk (haven’t said that for a while) from Mad Men was in it. Enter… Million Dollar Arm.

Boy likes Sandra Bullock. I like action, if it happens in Space, even better.
Off we go to 3D cinema to see Gravity. It is excellent, believe the hype but not all of it. It is incredible. It is techy and whizzy and let’s face it, Sandra Bullock is divine, but I’m not sure

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…. the opening lines of one of my favourite movies of all time, Star Wars. The majestic musical score written for the Star Wars movies has been voted the UK’s favourite soundtrack as voted for across all BBC Radio listeners.
Instantly recognisable from the first notes

Nude was the predominant colour on display at Armani Privé. Brushing aside the fashion industry’s heated discussion, I think last year, about the colour description of nude after Michelle Obama wore it, it is a colour that Giorgio Armani excels in. Mr Armani can’t have failed to notice that Planet Hollywood

Johnny Depp is 50 today WTF! The chiseled face that stared out at me from my school books and folders as a teen has only improved with age. Although I’m not quite the fan I used to be due to his Willy Wonka character and his obsession with Tim Burton roles.

Wow what a film, you must catch Gangster Squad while it’s still out. Exquisitely shot, excellent acting from a fabulously selected cast and executed by paying homage to the gangster greats of yesteryear.

A delayed post about the Golden Globes fashion hits and misses, apologies, things happen!
Firstly let me say, in India last night it was the Screen Awards which I guess is the Indian version of the Globes but I’m not going to review the fashion because I can’t pretend to care about the celebrities or the fashion. A sari is a beautiful garment, end of. No one wore anything else.
So back to the Globes, please do get your comments off your chest too!

Starting with a Brit Chick – well, at least it’s not nude. I love nude but it’s a bit saturated at award ceremonies. The Telegraph commented on Kate’s chav/scouse eyebrows. A bit harsh!

Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader’s birthday bash was an elaborate affair with no expense spared. This included a celebrity guest budget that paid for Jean Claude Van Damme and Hilary Swank to get up on stage and pretend to be buddies with Mr Kadyrov. Van Damme even declared that he loved him!
Hilary Swank issued an apology yesterday, now that the cheque must have cleared, claiming

David Cameron used his party speech to bring child adoption to the front of his agenda highlighting the woefully inadequate placement of children. With children from ethnic minorities the figures are worse as an ethnic match is preferred but ethnic minority families seem more reluctant to put themselves forward.

I have just heard that Dame Elizabeth Taylor has died aged 79 after suffering from a long term illness.

It has been some time since we have seen her on our screens, but I remember as a child how my Dad used to love watching her and husband Richard Burton.
Oscar nominee 4 years in a row, this screen icon’s greatest work were in masterpieces of Hollywood cinema such as Cleopatra, National Velvet and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
The film industry will be mourning the loss of Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
