Apples are falling off the trees across the country. There are an assortment of foods that can be made from jams to chutneys to desserts. My recent favourite is a quick and simple Apple Crumble served with custard or ice cream.
Takes less than half an hour to prepare and perfect warm dessert for the colder autumnal nights.
Recipe: Apples, blackberries, blueberries, brown sugar, plain flour, butter, cinnamon powder.
Method: Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Take the skin off apples and slice them. Mix with berries into an ovenproof dish. Scatter a couple of table spoons of brown sugar over the fruit and sprinkle a healthy amount of cinnamon powder.
Next make the crumble. Mix 250g plain flour with 125g-150g of sugar and 150g of butter. Lightly work the mixture until it makes a crumble and spread over the fruit.
Bake in the oven for 40minutes. The crumble should be golden and the fruit cooked.
Serve with custard or ice-cream.
Yum……
