Apple Crumble

Apples are falling off the trees across the country. There are an assortment of foods that can be made from jams to chutneys to desserts. My recent favourite is a quick and simple Apple Crumble served with custard or ice cream.

Takes less than half an hour to prepare and perfect warm dessert for the colder autumnal nights.

Recipe: Apples, blackberries, blueberries, brown sugar, plain flour, butter, cinnamon powder.

Method: Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Take the skin off apples and slice them. Mix with berries into an ovenproof dish. Scatter a couple of table spoons of brown sugar over the fruit and sprinkle a healthy amount of cinnamon powder.

Next make the crumble. Mix 250g plain flour with 125g-150g of sugar and 150g of butter. Lightly work the mixture until it makes a crumble and spread over the fruit.

Bake in the oven for 40minutes. The crumble should be golden and the fruit cooked.

Serve with custard or ice-cream.

  1. I love any type of fruit crumble and this looks divine. I do recommend adding oats into the crumble topping mix to give a crunchy texture and they’re a healthy grain to add to a diet.

  2. And may I recommend M+S vanilla custard to drench! Ahhhh the best thing about winter has to be comfort food !
