A Perfume for a Little Princess

Vaara Penhaligons

Quintessential British heritage brand, Penhaligon’s, is launching a new Eau de Parfum on Monday called Vaara, inspired by the Royal House of Marwar-Jodphur in Rajasthan. The scent came about after His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II desired a scent to commemorate the birth of his granddaughter, Vaara (as one does).

The Wishing Chair

the wishing chair

Delhi, the sprawling capital city of India includes numerous little villages that were swallowed up in the city’s expansion.  Retaining their narrow lanes and crumbling buildings they have an authenticity missing in the newer parts of Delhi.

One such village is Shahpurjat.  One could easily drive past it or live in the city for years as a foreigner without knowing it existed, however, it has some very delightful shops and cafes that are worth visiting.  One such shop/cafe is The Wishing Chair, a decidedly feminine and pretty little place.  Teeming with beautiful trinkets

Nature’s Little Dysons

It is ant season in Delhi, monsoon will be coming soon but until then most houses have a little assistance with these little cleaning busy bodies picking up the crumbs we forgot.

Although I appreciate the help and am fascinated by their group activity and team work, looking at them does make me itch.  I am torn between leaving them alone, wanting to wash them down the drain, fearing the goddess of wealth Lakshmi

Waxing Lyrical

I love Diptyque candles, especially the tubereuse/tuberose scent.  Delicious fragrance without the smoke and mess of incense sticks or cones, candles are so dreamily romantic and relaxing too.

Truly Scrumptious

Like the lyrics of a Mary Poppins song, this hamper from Fortnum & Mason is truly scrumptious and should help with wedding picnics and afternoon tea.

I love picnics, my mum would always organise huge ones for the family with all us cousins munching sandwiches, crisps and samosas

The Sun Has Got His Hat On

The sun is out in London and people seem to be a lot happier. Strolling down to our local high street, I find that more people want to smile, say hello and even the staff in shops are friendlier. Does grey weather give us a grey mood?

What’s In Your Handbag?

Apparently you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their handbag. I emptied out my handbag to see what was in there. Apart from the obvious, my purse, phone, make-up bag, I discovered I am a hoarder or maybe just lazy at clearing my handbag.

Perfect Gift

It was my husband’s birthday the other day and I am really bad at buying him presents. Predominantly because I try an buy him clothes and they are always too small. I think I am indirectly trying to tell him to lose weight!!

Buying birthday gifts can be really difficult sometimes and what do you buy when you don’t really need anything and you are buying gifts for the sake of it.  Well Oxfam has the answer!!
